About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to support the delivery and growth of DNV's Solar PV and Hybrid BESS advisory business across the Philippines and APAC.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in renewable energy project development, construction, EPC execution, and stakeholder management, with proven experience supporting projects from development through commissioning and operations. The role will primarily focus on providing Owner's Engineering (OE) services, technical due diligence, construction monitoring, and project risk management for developers, lenders, investors, and asset owners.

In addition to project delivery responsibilities, the candidate will contribute to business development activities by leveraging industry networks, identifying new opportunities, and supporting client engagement across the renewable energy sector. Success in this role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and global DNV functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management & Delivery

  • Serve as Project Manager and electrical technical lead for Solar PV, Wind and Battery energy storage projects.
  • Manage project execution from proposal stage through project completion, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with DNV quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and subject matter experts across APAC.
  • Act as the primary interface between clients, EPC contractors, developers, lenders, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project scope, resources, schedules, financial performance, and client expectations.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, risk workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.

Owner's Engineering & Construction Advisory

  • Lead and support Owner's Engineer assignments during project development, design review, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover phases.
  • Review electrical and system designs for Solar PV, Wind, BESS, and hybrid projects, including grid interconnection, protection systems, substations, and balance-of-plant facilities.
  • Monitor EPC contractor performance, construction progress, quality compliance, and commissioning activities.
  • Evaluate project execution strategies, construction methodologies, and technical solutions to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Provide technical oversight during factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), commissioning, and performance verification activities.
  • Conduct site inspections and technical audits to identify construction, operational, and safety risks.

Technical & Commercial Advisory

  • Lead technical due diligence assignments for lenders, investors, developers, utilities, and asset owners.
  • Assess project technical and commercial risks throughout development and execution stages and recommend practical mitigation measures.
  • Review EPC contracts, equipment supply agreements, warranties, O&M agreements, project schedules, and commercial assumptions.
  • Evaluate project bankability, constructability, operability, and long-term performance risks.
  • Support independent engineering, feasibility studies, owner's engineering, lender's technical advisory, and asset management projects.
  • Provide technical expertise in Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid renewable systems, and grid integration.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build trusted relationships with developers, investors, lenders, utilities, EPC contractors, technology suppliers, regulators, and government agencies.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment among project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Represent DNV in client meetings, technical workshops, industry forums, and project review sessions.
  • Support conflict resolution and issue management among project stakeholders when required.

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Leverage industry networks and market knowledge to identify and develop new business opportunities in the Philippines.
  • Support proposal development, technical-commercial discussions, bid preparation, and contract negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain strategic client relationships to support repeat business and market growth
  • Contribute to the achievement of team revenue, utilization, and profitability targets.
  • Represent DNV at conferences, industry events, and customer engagements to strengthen DNV's market presence.

Leadership, Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Foster strong collaboration across DNV's regional and global teams.
  • Mentor junior consultants and engineers, supporting capability development and technical excellence.
  • Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across functions and disciplines.
  • Support development of methodologies, tools, technical publications, white papers, webinars, and conference presentations.

About you

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or related discipline is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project development, Owner's Engineering, EPC project execution, construction management, technical advisory, or consulting services.
  • Proven experience delivering Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Hybrid renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project lifecycle, including development, financing, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or managing EPC contractors and construction activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Experience performing technical due diligence, lender's advisory, owner's engineering, or independent engineering services.
  • Strong understanding of project technical, commercial, contractual, and construction risks and their mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with developers, lenders, investors, utilities, and contractors.
  • Proven project management experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business development mindset with established industry networks considered advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills in English.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills within regional and global organizations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Philippines and Asia-Pacific region as project requirements dictate.
