Do you have practical landfill management experience and the confidence to take ownership of a facility’s day-to-day performance?
We are looking for an experienced Environmental Consultant to join DNV’s Contaminated Land, Waste and Water team. Your primary responsibility will be acting as Landfill Facility Manager for a waste management facility near Cavan, leading its safe, compliant and efficient operation.
Alongside this assignment, you will provide a supporting role on environmental consultancy projects across Ireland, UK and globally.
The opportunity:
As Landfill Facility Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the facility operates in accordance with its Waste Management Licence.
Based predominantly at the facility near Cavan, you will provide visible, practical leadership across its daily operation. You will oversee environmental controls and landfill infrastructure, coordinate monitoring and maintenance activities, manage specialist contractors and maintain effective relationships with Cavan County Council, the Environmental Protection Agency, waste producers and local stakeholders.
You will also be part of DNV’s wider Contaminated Land, Waste and Water team, working alongside experienced environmental specialists and contributing to other consultancy projects across Ireland. This gives you the opportunity to take genuine ownership of an operational facility while continuing to broaden your environmental consultancy experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the facility safely and effectively in accordance with the Waste Management license, including its environmental controls, operational records and regulatory obligations
- Managing waste acceptance, including reviewing Waste Acceptance Criteria results and determining whether materials are suitable for acceptance
- Maintaining the facility’s environmental management plans and preparing regulatory reports and submissions, including those made through the EPA’s EDEN system and the Annual Environmental Report
- Managing specialist contractors and site health, safety and emergency arrangements, including reviewing work packages, risk assessments and method statements
- Overseeing landfill gas, flare, gas engine, leachate and SCADA systems, coordinating planned maintenance and responding to faults, alarms and emergency repairs
- Investigating incidents, complaints and environmental issues, and maintaining effective relationships with Cavan County Council, the EPA, contractors, waste producers and community stakeholders
- Providing environmental consultancy support to the wider team.
