“In the Calculation Tools department, I create software that helps approval engineers, ship designers, and ship owners with their daily tasks.” 

Recently, I’ve been working on a project where DNV and other class societies are developing new ship rules. My role involves implementing these rules in our software and creating graphic visualizations to make them easier to understand. This close collaboration has been vital to quickly understand the implications of the new rules and to make necessary adjustments. 

Working Side by Side 

Sitting together in the same office has made a huge difference. Previously, we were separated and relied on digital communication, which could be slow. Now, if I have a question or need clarification, I can get answers immediately. This setup has allowed us to progress faster and work more effectively as a team. 

Proud Moments 

Thanks to this collaboration, we became the first class society to successfully integrate the new rules into our software. We were also the first to present an impact study to the IACS group, which impressed them with our early implementation. It’s a proud moment to see how our teamwork made a significant impact. 

Key Takeaway 

My biggest takeaway from this experience is that cooperation is the key to success. Working closely with my colleagues has not only made the project successful but has also shown me the power of collaboration in achieving great things.
