About the role

Purpose of the Role

The Team Lead – Power Grid Assets Australia is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, performance, and growth of the Australia-based team, ensuring effective delivery of consulting services across the asset lifecycle.

The role is responsible for team utilisation, pipeline management, delivery quality, and people development, while contributing to business growth through close collaboration with Market Area Managers (MAMs) and Key Account Managers (KAMs).

In line with DNV’s consulting model, the Team Lead is also expected to act as a senior technical contributor and project leader, supporting complex client engagements and driving technical excellence across the team.

The Team Lead operates within delegated authority from the Head of Section. Strategic, financial, and workforce decisions remain accountable at Section level unless explicitly delegated.

Key Responsibilities

Team leadership & Operations

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Australia team, ensuring alignment to business priorities and delivery commitments in alignment with priorities set by the Head of Section.
  • Manage the overall pipeline of work for the team, ensuring balance between demand and capacity.
  • Drive efficient allocation of resources across projects and geographies, working closely with other team leads and regional management.
  • Foster collaboration across technical teams to enable cross-regional resource sharing and opportunity delivery.

    Utilisation and Operational Performance

  • Responsible for team utilisation
    1. Monitor utilisation across short- and medium-term horizons and proactively trigger corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure accurate and timely use of resourcing and timesheet tools.
  • Provide regular reporting on:
    1. Utilisation performance
    2. Project delivery status
    3. Pipeline health
    4. Business development progress
    5. People Management & Development
  • Lead performance management processes, including:
    1. MIP (Managing Individual Performance)
    2. Annual performance reviews
    3. Regular 1:1s and development check-ins
  • Develop and maintain Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all team members.
  • Coach and mentor staff across technical, consulting, and client engagement skills.
  • Drive a high-performance culture, addressing underperformance where needed in collaboration with HR.
  • Implement targeted actions to improve employee engagement and retention.
    1. Recruitment & Workforce Planning

Workforce planning and hiring activities are undertaken in coordination with and approved by the Head of Section.

  • Identify capability gaps and drive recruitment planning aligned to pipeline and strategy.
  • Lead or support hiring processes, including interviews and candidate evaluation.
  • Ensure effective onboarding and early-stage support for new hires to accelerate integration and productivity.
  • Build a sustainable talent pipeline for the Australia region.
    1. Technical Leadership & Delivery Excellence
  • Act as a recognised technical leader, contributing on key projects.
  • Provide guidance to the team on:
    1. Structuring and solving technical problems
    2. Applying DNV methodologies and best practices
    3. Delivering high-quality outputs
  • Mentor team members in:
    1. Writing reports, proposals, and technical memos
    2. Provide quality control and assurance of deliverables, including review and sign-off where required.
    3. Support delivery of projects across regions where required.
  • Develop team capability in core service areas (e.g., asset management, HVAC/HVDC systems, lifecycle advisory).
    1. Quality Assurance & DMS Compliance
  • Ensure quality control and review of deliverables prior to client submission.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with the DNV Management System (DMS) across projects and proposals.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery quality, tools, and methodologies.
    1. Business Development & Market Engagement
  • Collaborate with MAMs and KAMs to understand market needs and position DNV services effectively.
  • Support client engagement through:
    1. Participation in client calls, workshops, and site visits
    2. Contribution of technical expertise
  • Develop client-facing pitch materials and presentations.
  • Proactively identify and generate qualified leads and opportunities aligned with the team’s capabilities.
  • Ensure cross-selling by routing opportunities to appropriate teams when relevant.
    1. Bid & Proposal Management
  • Lead and coordinate the preparation of proposals and tender submissions.
  • Manage inputs from multiple stakeholders to ensure coherent and competitive submissions.
  • Ensure all proposals are:
    1. Client-focused and technically robust
    2. Fully compliant with DMS processes
  • Support bid/no-bid decision-making where required.
    1. Commercial Performance and Order Intake
  • Contribute to achieving order intake targets for the Australia team.
  • Support the conversion of pipeline opportunities into secured work.
  • Align pipeline development with team capacity and strategic priorities.
  • Provide input to forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes.

About you

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred)
  • Extensive experience in power grids, transmission (HVAC/HVDC), or asset management
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and consulting delivery
  • Strong experience in business development and proposal preparation
  • Familiarity with DNV tools, methodologies, and DMS (preferred)
