Tackling challenges, building trust.
I'm YouYou. I work at the DNV Technology Centre at Tuas in Singapore. I'm a team lead for technical development. I work together with my team to help customers resolve their issues. To be more specific, we try to mimic the real-world situation for the materials or component that they use for their projects. And then we obtain the data from the laboratory testing, and we take it from there to provide our best advice. So I started as an intern in 2006 and stayed on to this day. When we work with our customers, I feel that they have put in a lot of trust on us because we are professional, and we have the expertise to help them resolve their challenges. Very often we have the opportunity to join a project that requires multidisciplinary experts from different regions, different offices, with different backgrounds. So that actually gives a quite good opportunity for you to find a role model and to see how other experts or specialists handling pressures and tackle challenges and so on. I think that's something academic education is not able to provide. Because of the openness in the office, I can be authentic, and my peers can be authentic. I can confidently express my opinion and I'm comfortable to do that because I feel the respect. So the reason I want to stay for so long, I guess, is because of the environment. It's an environment that inspires you to gradually explore and realize your potential and grow yourself to be the best version of you in both personal and professional perspective. I'm proud of what I do in DNV because I feel valued, I can make a contribution to the industry through what I do, and then also same time I got opportunities to shape the culture of the company.
