About the role

DNV Product Assurance AS is one of the leading Notified Bodies for medical devices. The unit is entitled to carry out tasks related to the conformity assessment of medical devices with the EU Regulations before such products are placed on the market.

The role of the Internal Clinician is to assess clinical data supporting the safety and performance of medical devices and/or in vitro diagnostic medical devices.

The main tasks in this role are:

  • Perform assessments and prepare reports on clinical data provided by manufacturers to ensure compliance with EU Regulations on medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices
  • Evaluate the summary of safety and clinical performance reports for high-risk devices
  • Review the periodic safety update reports provided by manufacturers
  • Collaborate with external specialists in different clinical fields during the assessment of clinical data of high-risk devices
  • Communicate with the manufacturers on clinical data requirements
  • Carry out final approval of clinical evaluation assessment reports and other relevant clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance with the requirements
  • Recommend certification based on reviewed documentation
  • Perform competence review, training and approval of new colleagues (clinicians)

About you

  • Medical Doctor
  • At least 4 years of work experience including:
    • 2 years of direct work experience in patient care (ideally with experience in surgery and/or laboratory medicine) and
    • 2 years of research experience in conducting preclinical or clinical trials or assessing clinical data
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
