Class Development (M-SD) is one of five operational units within Ship Classification in Maritime. M-SD contributes to Maritime Strategic Goals through initiatives focusing on developing future ways of service delivery to improve customer satisfaction, quality, efficiency, and automation. Digitalization is a key vehicle for success. Our initiatives are organized in development programs. The total number of permanent employees in M-SD is around 110, located at Høvik, Hamburg, Gdynia, Shanghai and Pune. In addition, the unit has sub-contractors on a temporary basis.
We are now looking for a highly motivated Software Developer to further strengthen our department Calculation tool and our Nauticus Hull development. The unit has 22 employees in Hamburg, Shanghai and Høvik. The vacant position is located at Høvik
Nauticus Hull is a specialized software package developed by DNV for the strength assessment and structural design of ship hulls. It provides a comprehensive set of tools for efficient hull design and verification, ensuring compliance with DNV Rules and IACS Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers and oil tankers.
Key features include:
- 3D Model-based structural analysis with integration to OCX (Open Class 3D Exchange format)
- Support for both prescriptive and Finite Element Method (FEM) calculations
- Integration with popular 3D design and FEM systems like NAPA Steel, ANSYS and MSC Patran
- Used by over 275 shipyards and design offices worldwide
Nauticus Hull helps optimize the hull structure during the design process, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and further develop our own geometry kernel
- Implement new 3D modelling features in close cooperation with product management, domain experts and users
- Integrate the Nauticus Hull 3D model with FE calculation
