About GSS

As the internal support organization for DNV and DNV owned companies, we deliver shared services within Human Resources, Finance, IT and Real Estate & Procurement to DNV globally. Our mission is to enable DNV to grow, succeed with its business goals and improve competitiveness. Customer experience is at the core of everything we do. GSS is responsible for many of the tools, processes and daily routines that create the backbone of DNV.

About the role

The role of the Senior Regional HSE Specialist is to support their region with matters related to “common” HSE risks and collaborating with Group, Business Area HSE and Quality HSE(Q) Leads, Local and Regional HSE(Q) Managers and Country Chairs.

A Senior Regional HSE Specialist may request tasks to be performed by the Country HSE Coordinators (CHC), but responsibility for completion and quality of these tasks remains with the Senior Regional HSE Specialist. This means that, while the delivery of the tasks may be delegated, the Senior Regional HSE Specialist is to be held accountable for providing supervision and ensuring quality control.

This role ensures compliance with corporate HSE policies, local regulations, and international standards while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout all business operations and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Country Chair in demonstrating compliance with HSE Legislation, including identifying legal requirements for all DNV operations within the country and collaborating with designated internal and external counterparts, as required by local law.
  • Developing local HSE operating procedures as necessary and supporting the implementation of these procedures.
  • Conducting statutory and non-statutory HSE reporting.
  • Conducting and reviewing, as necessary, country-specific risk assessments for “common” operations and collaborating with the Country Chairs and/or Business Areas to manage these risks.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on HSE standards, incident investigation, and safe work practices.
  • Identifying in Synergi Life the highest “common” risks and trends for all recorded “common” risk cases in the countries of responsibility and communicating concerns to relevant stakeholders.
  • Performing periodic quality checks on the adequacy of handling of non-operational HSE cases in Synergi Life and taking appropriate action to close the case.
  • Supporting Group and the Country Chairs with the country-level Management System Review (MSR) process.
  • Coordinating and participating in internal and external ISO 45001 audits as required, especially in offices with multiple Business Areas or when the audit is performed as a standalone audit rather than part of Business Area quality audits.
  • Maintaining environmental management systems for offices in the countries of responsibility, including the identification of environmental aspects.
  • Identifying region-specific environmental aspects related to “common” office operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety culture and environmental performance.
