About the role

Risk Advisory is a well-established department in the UK & Ireland region of Energy Systems and is primarily responsible for delivery of advisory and safety management services to ensure that all operations are completed safely. Our team provides high quality services and best practice in risk identification, assessment and mitigation and assist our customers in risk-based decision support. This approach is highly valued through the whole energy value chain ranging from O&G (upstream, midstream, downstream), the evolving hydrogen and CCUS sectors, and in the allied areas of the Energy Transition (renewables).

Our Opportunity:

As Senior / Principal Consultant you will be part of our Integrity Advisory team of ~40 people, covering offshore fixed and floating structures, pipelines (transmission and distribution), onshore process plant and Energy Transition. Our Integrity Management offering provides end to end services including policies, procedures and standards, inspection planning, corrosion control, fitness for service, damage evaluation and failure analysis.

You will be working with the pipeline fitness for service, vibration & asset health and material and corrosion teams to provide PSR/PSSR integrity and compliance services to customers as well as support the team internally delivering their projects.

Key accountabilities:

  • Technical Delivery
    • Provide expert level knowledge in pipeline inspection, compliance and integrity management systems.
    • Provide expert PSR and PSSR knowledge to lead projects and bids related to compliance and act as competent person, Gas Responsible Person etc.
    • Provide expertise in audits and gap analysis of integrity management systems.
    • Deliver MAPD, TD1 audits, Written Scheme of Examinations
    • Lead HSE related tasks and support close out of actions
    • Carry out site visits, support inspections and technical evaluations
    • Provide solutions to manage risk, repair and inspection planning
    • Provide expertise in onshore pipeline and piping systems for transmission, distribution and LNG.
  • People development
    • Support engineer’s competency development through mentoring and training
    • Support a culture of learning within the team, through empowerment, ensuring they are supported and developed to achieve their potential as well as driving continuous improvement and service delivery.
  • Commercial
    • Lead bids and develop execution methodologies to win projects
    • Manage projects to deliver as-sold margins. Identifying opportunities for additional scopes and variations
    • Manage sub-contractors and client interfacing
    • Deliver projects, as well as support section in identifying new opportunities/clients to grow terminals, MOD and onshore product pipeline integrity services
    • Support department to achieve its annual targets by supporting proposals preparations, client meetings and man-hours estimates for pricing

About you

Our Integrity Advisory Section contains experts from across a diverse spectrum of disciplines and market sectors and therefore there are a range of skills, behaviours and experience that we feel are essential for you to bring to this role:

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and experience in the field of PSR/PSSR legislation and compliance via:
    • Previous experience in role such as Pipeline Technical Authority, Gas Responsible Person or PSSR Competent Person
    • Deep understanding of gas systems for transmission, distribution and LNG
    • Knowledge of Pipeline integrity management systems, HSE guidelines and best practices
    • Site and inspection experience
  • Commercially aware with ability to work within available budget, support team efficiency and development effort requirements to support bids
  • Effectively plans, defines and communicates internally and externally. Support resource planning and competency development
  • Builds and maintains a strong network of internal and external contacts and relationships, using these to support client meetings, sales efforts and developing proposals
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation). Communicates with authority and conviction, demonstrating an ability to engage and influence
  • Chartership status or working towards obtaining chartership status
  • Degree qualification or working towards obtaining a degree qualification in mechanical engineering or similar field.
  • Full UK Driving License is essential due to the frequent site visits.

Our Asset Advisory team is predominantly based out of our Loughborough office, however due to the nature of this role we offer hybrid working arrangements. It is important to be able to travel to project site locations throughout the UK, as well as our DNV offices as and when required.
