Overview

About us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About Energy Systems

We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About the role

We are looking for a strategic, result-focussed, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager who will lead and realise our growth ambition in the German speaking market of Power Grids.

Introduction

The Power Grids Service Area within Energy Systems Northern Europe supports a wide range of stakeholders, including Electricity Transmission & Distribution utilities, industrial asset owners, OEMs, developers, investors, and regulators. As a key partner in the energy transition, we assist with advisory services in expanding and reinforcing grids while leveraging digital transformation. Our extensive service portfolio covers the entire value chain of onshore and offshore electric grids, from power system planning and transmission & distribution technology to asset management and digital system operations. Within Power Grids Northern Europe we serve clients from Austria to Norway and The Netherlands to Poland, with our strongest market position in The Netherlands and Germany.

In our organisation, the Business Development activities are concentrated in the Business Development Department, whereas management and delivery of our projects is organised in functional departments and teams based in The Netherlands, Germany and Sweden.

The Business Development Department

The Business Development department consists of 15 Business Development Managers (BDMs) that act as thought leaders in the market and set the strategic direction for the Service Area. The BDMs monitor market developments, analyse new business opportunities, increase our market visibility, drive lead generation, lead project bids, and sponsor projects (QC). Together they cover the entire service portfolio of Power Grids and each BDM has a (number of) focus areas, such as Transmission and Distribution Technology.

The Business Development Manager (BDM)

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in defining and operationalizing our Power Grids strategy and realising our market ambitions. You will work closely with the other BDMs and with the Customer Relations and Sales organization (amongst others by being part of Key Account Management team/s), to monitor and anticipate market developments, to enable a coordinated market approach, maintain customer focus and coordinate commercial opportunities. Utilising market intelligence, you will set the strategic direction for Power Grids services in your area, in close alignment with the operational delivery team(s) you are connected to, to ensure our service continues to be future-fit. As the BDM focussing on Transmission and Distribution Technology, you will work closely with teams of Power Equipment, Overhead Lines and Power System Planning specialists.

Aiming to grow Order Intake (efficiently), you will increase visibility in the market (and internally) and extend our C-level relations in the Transmissions and Distribution Technology in the German speaking markets (Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with a strong focus on Germany). You are the go-to person when it comes to your area (externally, but also internally). You will act as a thought leader within your area, deliver keynote speeches at conferences, write articles and be highly visible on relevant social media, etc.

A BDM generates leads and acts as the opportunity owner (leading the bid/no bid decision, opportunity development and closing of the deals) for medium to large opportunities. You will act as a Project Sponsor for the projects where you were the opportunity owner. As BDM you will support ‘your’ operational delivery team(s) with setting the priorities during periods of scarcity of resources, in keeping an overview of the complete sales-pipe development and defining actions, including contributing to the development of the Annual Operating Plan. You will also contribute as a subject matter expert in projects and in doing so, coach consultants and engineers within the teams.

Location
Preferred location is Dresden, Germany but other locations in Germany are negotiable.
