Overview

About us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About Energy Systems

We help customers navigate the complex transition to a decarbonized and more sustainable energy future. We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About the role

DNV Spadeadam is a world-renowned Major Hazards Research and Testing team in Cumbria. The unique work we do at our full-scale fire and explosion test site, is at the heart of the global Energy Transition to a more decarbonised and secure world. For nearly 50 years our projects have helped the energy, counter terrorism and security sectors innovate with new technologies, and our findings help inform, guide and advise industry, ensuring it continues to enhance its ability to protect people, property and our environment.

Situated on the Cumbrian side of the border with Northumbria, Spadeadam provides the opportunity to live and work in a truly unique and beautiful area of the UK – you can choose to live rurally in the myriad of local villages and market towns, or in the cities of Carlisle or Newcastle, both within striking distance of the Northumberland and Lake District National Parks. Two coastlines are available to explore along with the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall.

Why work with us?

This is no normal role! Our projects are unique, large scale, and often involve flammable gases, high explosives, fragmentation, destructive testing and high-pressure systems.

The work we do is diverse, innovative and challenging. Using years of major hazard testing experience, combined with DNV’s breadth of knowledge and expertise across the energy sector globally, DNV Spadeadam leads the industry in driving the energy transition. Across DNV, we have a wealth of experience in all energy vectors and with over 5,000 people working to help our customers and industry deliver the energy transition, our expertise covers the full breadth and depth of the energy value chain.
