DNV Energy System’s North America group is seeking a Senior Energy Market Transformation Consultant to join our Markets team. In this role, you will be joining a high-performing team of socioeconomic research and technical specialists committed to helping clients navigate the energy transition. You will serve as a subject matter expert, project manager, or key contributor on studies that monitor and measure the effect that program interventions have or can have on the market as well as market research to support the development of markets or technologies that advance the energy transition. This includes a mix of market characterization/transformation studies, process evaluations, net-to-gross and non-energy impact research. This role will also lead and contribute to proactive business development and proposal creation.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with client-facing experience in energy, climate change, and/or risk assurance that is seeking a role that involves strategic, big picture thinking, collaboration, and an interdisciplinary approach to solving complex challenges.
This role is based in any of DNV’s continental U.S. offices, presenting a hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from a DNV office. Preferred office locations include North Andover or Medford, MA; Portland, ME; New York, NY; Arlington, VA; Madison, WI; Oakland, CA; and Portland, OR. Other office locations may be considered.
What You’ll Do
In this multifaceted role, you will continue to leverage and expand your skill set in the energy industry, socio-economic evaluation methods and frameworks, and delivering products that support client needs. You will be responsible for:
- Supporting project-based teams in the delivery of studies and analyses by acting as a leader and subject matter expert. This can include project management, client interaction, development of proposals or work plans, leadership on best practices and innovation, data collection, data analysis, and preparation of deliverables and presentation of results.
- Provide insights and lead and/or support research and analyses focused on addressing the energy transition including evaluation of market transformation programs and program designs, the distribution of benefits from utility-sponsored programs, non-energy impact assessments, market characterizations, socio-economic analyses, comprehensive utility planning processes, and best practice reviews.
- Ensure all work products are high quality, effective, timely, and accessible to diverse stakeholder groups while proactively leveraging DNV’s wide and deep bench of analysts and consultants to ensure high standards of accuracy
- Identify opportunities for adding value and develop innovative approaches, or collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative approaches to address the changing energy landscape
- Mentor and coach junior staff on market research best practices and ensure other project teams incorporate research best practices into their study designs
- Interpret customers’ problems to be solved and questions to be addressed and convert into value-added opportunities. Talk to clients and potential clients about their organizations’ goals and needs around decarbonization and equity.
- Operate with a teamwork mentality that leads to building and maintaining interpersonal relationships, providing guidance to researchers and consultants and collaborating with other project managers and team members to share knowledge and best practices.
