Meet James
I'm at the heart of it because here at DNV Spadeadam, we do things that nowhere else has ever done before. My name is James Capy and I am a senior technician and also most recently, uh, been promoted to a team leader here at DNV Spadeadam, the most exciting thing about my role is that we get to work on all kinds of amazing test rigs and projects here at Spadeadam It's brilliant to see the end result of the test, which usually involves explosions. The opportunity in that I've had to learn and develop in my role. I started as an apprentice 12 years ago. Part of that I did, uh, HNC. I went on to do an HND and also, you know, we've done loads of bespoke training courses for the role. I recently got promoted to being a team leader, and that was a really, really good, um, step for me because I felt that I was recognized for my competence and experience that I've developed and learned over my 12 years here. The culture here at DNV is a fantastic culture. I think of it like a family and everyone looks after everyone, and whenever we're working together on projects, people always help each other. I always find when we're working in like bad weather, you'll never be so close with a person who stood in the absolutely lashing down round with you. So the mental health and wellbeing element here at DNV is a very, very thought of topic. You know, we always say that we safeguard property life and the environment, and part of that is looking after the staff and looking after the team. We're always promoted and encouraged to, to speak out and to talk. I always feel that because of the test work that we do, it's really important that it's making things safe and we're proving things as well. You know, we're testing against models that the computer says this is what's gonna happen, and we either prove or disprove that theory. If we maybe prove that it's wrong or right, it could potentially save someone further down the line. I've been here for 12 years Growing a because I love doing the things that we do here, and it's different every single day. It's working on all the different projects and say, working with different people, working with different team members. That's the reason why I keep coming back here because it just, it just keeps getting better.
