As Market Area Manager for DNV’s Power Grid business unit, Alok leads business development and customer support across energy storage systems, high-voltage direct current (HVDC), and transmission & distribution segments. His role goes beyond traditional customer engagement – it’s about building strategic partnerships with utilities, government agencies, and international financial institutions to accelerate clean energy transition and digital transformation goals.

Proud to make an impact

Alok takes pride in contributing to projects that drive decarbonisation, energy resilience, and sustainable growth in emerging markets. “Seeing our technical recommendations evolve into national policies, investment decisions, and real-world implementation is deeply rewarding,” he says.

One of his most memorable projects is leading the technical study for India’s first offshore wind development programme, the FOWIND initiative. “It was a challenging yet rewarding project,” Alok shares. “We worked closely with government agencies, policymakers, and industry partners to shape the early regulatory and technical framework for offshore wind in India. I was proud to add my voice to the expertise helping DNV earn the reputation of a trusted advisor in the country’s renewable energy landscape.”

Another milestone was establishing and growing DNV’s Power Grid business in India. From introducing innovative solutions like Smart Cable Guard to setting up DNV’s renewable energy control room, Alok and his team transformed market vision into tangible capabilities for customers. “Seeing strategy evolve into measurable progress for customers and the power sector has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my role.”

Throughout his nine years at DNV, Alok’s growth has been shaped by hands-on experience leading transformative projects across Asia-Pacific. “Every project, collaboration, and challenge has offered something new to explore and grow from,” he says.

Alongside project work, structured learning opportunities – from leadership programmes and e-learning modules to global workshops – have added immense value. “But real learning at DNV happens every day: through open dialogue, shared purpose, and the freedom to experiment. DNV has provided me with a platform to grow and contribute to shaping a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future,” Alok says.
