About the role

We are looking for a skilled Electrical and Automation CMC Surveyor to join our CMC team in the Netherlands.

Area Benelux & France is part of the Maritime Region West Europe, consisting of a team of enthusiastic and committed employees taking care of various technical services. These services are related to the following disciplines:

  • CMC - Certification of Materials and Components for vessels and offshore installations
  • VMC/VCA - Verification of Materials and Components for equipment or installations outside certification or classification requirements
  • NB - New Building classification for vessels and offshore installations

There are five office locations in the area; Antwerp, Le Havre, Marseille, Saint Nazaire, and Rotterdam. Beside this, several Surveyors are widely distributed geographically, to cover the geographical needs of our clients.

We aim to be the front-runner in innovation, digitalization, and customer-centricity. For various disciplines, new regimes are continuously introduced. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, 3D printing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels, and now heading towards autonomous shipping. Customer needs and footprint reduction are key elements.

Main tasks:

  • Responsible for the certification and verification of a variety of technical products at manufacturers
  • Main product lines:
    • Semi-finished materials and products
    • Welded components/structures
    • Propulsion, auxiliary engines, turbines and power generators
    • Electrical motors, transformers, battery/UPS systems, frequency converters, switchboards, and automation systems
    • Thrusters, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, pressure vessels and hydraulics, such as cylinders
  • Responsible for complex retrofit, offshore and/or new-building projects, incl. follow-up of commercial leads, project management and implementation, follow-up of technical issues, etc.
  • Responsible for a group of customers, following up on their requests, and collaborating with colleagues globally to deliver high-quality services.

About you

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent in electrical, control and monitoring, marine engineering, nautical college or comparable competence
  • 5-10+ years of experience in the maritime and/or offshore industry. Experience on ship new-building projects is a plus.
  • Passionate about the maritime industry, continuous learning and diversity of daily challenges
  • Flexibility to travel within the area
  • Empathy and solution-oriented attitude towards our clients
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and in writing, towards both internal and external stakeholders
  • Team player with independent, self-organized abilities and a positive mindset
  • A good command of English is required; Dutch is desirable.
  • In the possession of a valid driving license
