We are now looking for a graduate to strengthen our Hull, Machinery & Toca section in Germany. You will be part of an engaged group driven by people’s competence and motivation to help and support our customers through consistent delivery of high-quality services.
The Approval Centre Europe within Maritime Ship Classification consists of six production departments, located across three different locations (Gdynia, Poland; Hamburg, Germany and Oslo (Høvik), Norway). The main delivery from the Approval organization is approval, verification and certification services for different maritime related assets in accordance with our rules.

Section/Task description
The available position pertains to the "Hull, Machinery and TOCA" section in Hamburg, part of the Technical Support department in Ship Classification with affiliated units in Oslo, and centres in Houston, Singapore, and Piraeus, providing 24/7 global technical assistance and expertise. Our primary focus is delivering technical support to fleet in service by handling of remote surveys and DATE cases within own discipline.
Further the hull team is responsible for specific hull survey requirements and associated Rules and Instructions and is supporting the development and lecturing of the Hull Structure Course and the thickness measurement tool Pegasus.
The work tasks of an engineer in our section typically include, but is not limited to:
- Managing communication with both internal and external stakeholders through the DNV tool DATE
- Technical support to customers and our network of stations around the world
- Remote Fleet in Service surveys according to rules and regulations
- Performance of strength analysis of aged or damaged hull structures of marine vessels according to relevant rules and regulations
