About the role

The Green Shipping Program (GSP) is a public-private partnership program administered by DNV. The program has over 100 partners and is financed by the Ministry of Climate and Environment (KLD) over the national budget and by the partners.

The Service Center for green fleet renewal is the spearhead for scaling of new solutions in GSP and is part of KLD's initiative to realize green maritime projects. The Service Center is financed by KLD. Through the center, assistance is provided to shipping companies and cargo owners who wish to realize carbon-neutral sea transportation. The Service Center was established in 2020 and has so far assisted 120 green projects.

The Service Center is administered by DNV, and the projects are carried out by DNV's own consultants together with experienced contracted consultants. In total, about 12 people are part of the center's core team. In addition, DNV's expertise from research, consultancy and class in important specialist areas are available. The head of the center is, jointly with the director of GSP, responsible for strategy development, budget and resource prioritization and managing the work of the core team. The position offers great opportunities to contribute to the green shift in the maritime industry and influence the speed and direction of this transition.

The current head of the Service Center is now stepping aside at his own request, and DNV is looking for a replacement. The Head of the Service Center will report to GSP's program director and will be employed in DNV's Maritime Environment Advisory section. The tasks will mainly be linked to GSP, but it is desirable that the candidate also will be involved in selected parts of the sections work outside the Service Center.

The Environmental Advisory section in DNV Maritime supports our customers in optimizing their decisions on environmental technology, low- and zero-emission fuels, and greenhouse gas (GHG) and environmental policy and strategy. With more than 20 years of service deliveries dedicated to ship emissions and abatement strategies, our interdisciplinary teams have expertise both down to the details and along the bigger lines.

The right candidate will:

  • Together with GSP's management and the client, set strategic direction for the work in the Service Center
  • Together with senior resources, contribute to the management and implementation of projects
  • Stay up to date on developments in the market for green sea transport and be a driving force to identify and prioritize projects
  • Develop cooperation with key players in the development and implementation of green maritime technology, solutions and services in order to speed up the transition
  • Participate in GSP's management group and contribute to coordination between activities in the Service Center and other activities in GSP
  • Profile the Service Center in external forums, and contribute to conveying learning from the Service Center's projects to the benefit of industry players and authorities
  • Together with senior resources in the Service Center, handle day-to-day priorities, budget follow-up and ensure control and quality assurance of processes and deliveries
