Role Overview
DNV Industrial Services is seeking a Segment Leader – Shipping to lead and expand its Shipping, Vessel, Lifting, and Offshore Inspection activities in China.
The role focuses on complex offshore and shipping projects, working closely with key shipyards, offshore contractors, shipowners, classification societies, and design institutes, while ensuring delivery in line with international standards, class requirements, and DNV best practices.
Key Accountabilities
1. Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Lead the Vessel, Lifting, and Offshore Inspection teams in China.
- Take ownership of technical quality and execution for large and complex projects such as crane vessels, dredgers, offshore construction vessels, and wind power platforms.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet contractual, technical, and classification society requirements.
- Act as the senior technical authority for escalated quality, compliance, or execution issues.
2. People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop a team of senior inspectors, engineers, and quality professionals.
- Set clear performance expectations; manage delivery, capability, and professional standards.
- Build a stable, high‑performing team through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Coordinate resources effectively across projects and functions.
3. Client Engagement & Market Support
- Actively support domestic and international bids, including preparation and review of technical proposals and tender documentation.
- Build and maintain long‑term client relationships with shipowners, offshore operators, shipyards, classification societies, and design institutes.
- Represent DNV as a trusted technical and business partner in the China offshore and shipping market.
4. Cross‑Functional & Global Collaboration
- Work closely with commercial, operations, technical, and HSE teams to ensure aligned project execution.
- Coordinate with global Industrial Services resources to support international projects and best practice sharing.
5. Financial & Business Performance
- Support and follow‑up on the financial performance of the Shipping segment, including revenue, cost control, and margin awareness.
- Contribute to long‑term segment sustainability and growth, balancing technical excellence with commercial discipline.
6. Service Excellence & Operational Consistency
- Ensure efficient and consistent service delivery, aligned with customer expectations and DNV standards.
- Promote a strong safety, quality, and compliance culture.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery effectiveness and client satisfaction.
