About the role

Overview: DNV Industrial Services is looking for a Senior Technical Specialist – Industrial Services to support technical, operational and quality activities within the Industrial Services business area.

The role will report to the Quality and Technical Manager and will be focused on the supervision of inspection activities, technical support to inspection coordination teams, review of inspection documentation and reports, inspectors’ validation, technical bid support, process improvement and quality assurance activities.

The ideal candidate has a solid technical background in industrial inspection services, with experience in Oil & Gas, Power, Energy, Renewables and/or complex EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational and Technical Support

  • Supporting and supervising inspection activities performed by inspectors.
  • Reviewing inspection documentation, including ITPs, inspection procedures, drawings, manufacturing schedules, project specifications and applicable standards.
  • Providing technical support to inspection coordinators, inspectors and internal stakeholders during daily operational activities.
  • Supporting the clarification of technical issues raised by clients, inspectors or project teams.
  • Conducting inspections directly when required.
  • Supporting expediting activities when needed, including review of manufacturing progress, pending technical items and inspection planning.

    Inspection Reports Review

  • Reviewing inspection reports to ensure completeness, consistency, technical accuracy and alignment with project requirements, applicable standards and internal procedures.
  • Verifying that inspection outcomes, findings, deviations, punch items and NCRs are properly reported and supported by adequate evidence.
  • Supporting the improvement of reporting quality and consistency across inspection assignments.

    Inspectors Validation and Technical Interviews

  • Managing and maintaining inspectors’ profiles and technical qualification records.
  • Supporting the onboarding and approval process of inspectors in line with internal requirements and client-specific criteria.
  • Preparing and performing technical interviews with inspectors and specialist resources.
  • Assessing inspectors’ suitability for specific assignments based on technical background, certifications, experience and project requirements.

    Quality Assurance and Process Improvement

  • Supporting the implementation and improvement of internal procedures, operational instructions and quality processes.
  • Supporting root cause analysis activities and the definition of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assisting during internal and external audits, including audits related to ISO 17020, ISO 9001 and client requirements.
  • Promoting continuous improvement of inspection processes, report review workflows and technical governance.

    Technical Bid Support

  • Supporting bid managers during tender and proposal phases.
  • Reviewing technical specifications, scopes of work and client requirements.
  • Identifying suitable technical resources for projects and supporting the preparation of inspectors’ profiles for client submission.
  • Providing technical input for commercial proposals where required.

    Remote Inspection and Training

  • Supporting and conducting remote inspections when applicable.
  • Preparing and delivering technical training sessions for inspectors, coordinators and internal teams.
  • Supporting the implementation of remote inspection methodologies, tools and procedures.
  • Facilitating training follow-up and ensuring alignment with internal technical requirements.

    Client and Stakeholder Interface

  • Acting as a technical point of contact for key clients and internal teams.
  • Supporting client audits, technical meetings and clarification processes.
  • Assisting with the validation of resources for key client projects.
  • Contributing to the resolution of technical issues and operational escalations.

About you

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management or another relevant technical discipline is preferred. Candidates with a technical diploma and proven relevant experience in the inspection, quality or industrial services sector may also be considered.
  • Minimum 08 years of experience in inspection, quality control, quality assurance, manufacturing, EPC projects or industrial services.
  • Good knowledge of inspection activities related to Oil & Gas, Power, Energy, Renewables and/or industrial equipment.
  • Solid understanding of international standards and technical specifications, including, as applicable, EN 10204, ASTM, ASME, API, IEC and relevant DNV standards.
  • Good knowledge of welding, NDT, mechanical inspection and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to review technical documentation such as ITPs, inspection procedures, drawings, specifications, test reports and inspection reports.
  • Good knowledge of quality management systems and inspection body requirements, including ISO 9001 and ISO 17020.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with clients, inspectors, vendors and internal teams in a structured and professional manner.

Preferred Background

The following will be considered an advantage:

  • Previous experience in third-party inspection, vendor inspection, EPC environments, manufacturing surveillance or technical quality roles.
  • Good electrical and instrumentation background, especially in relation to industrial equipment, electrical packages, control systems, instrumentation, panels, FAT activities, project inspection and vendor surveillance.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, energy, power generation, renewable energy or large industrial projects.
  • Previous involvement in technical bid support, inspectors’ qualification, technical interviews or resource validation.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis, NCR management, corrective actions and audit support.
  • Experience in remote inspection methodologies and digital inspection tools.
  • Additional technical certifications related to welding, NDT, coating, electrical/instrumentation, quality or auditing.

Candidate Profile:

  • We are looking for a technically solid and structured professional with a practical inspection mindset, able to combine field experience with technical review, coordination and quality governance.
  • The candidate should be able to work independently, support operational teams, communicate clearly with clients and inspectors, and contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection services.
  • A collaborative attitude, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple technical topics in parallel are essential for this role.
