About the role

We are seeking an Aquaculture Researcher to join our Ocean and Food Systems programme based at Høvik/Oslo, Norway. The role will focus on aquaculture system risk, supporting the development of new knowledge, frameworks, and assurance concepts that help the aquaculture industry manage fish health and welfare risks.

As an Aquaculture Researcher, you will contribute to applied research that connects scientific understanding with practical industry needs. This is a role for someone who enjoys working at the interface between science, data, industry, and innovation, and who can translate complex aquaculture challenges into actionable insight.

You will join the Ocean and Food Systems Programme within Group Research and Development (GRD), a multidisciplinary research environment that works across DNV's business areas to generate new insights, methods, and services. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to influence DNV's research and innovation agenda and contribute to shaping a sustainable future for the ocean and aquaculture.

Key tasks:

  • Develop risk models to understand how aquaculture technologies, operations, regulations, economy, fish health and ecosystems interact.
  • Contribute to the development of methods, frameworks, guidelines, and best practices that support management of fish health and welfare risks.
  • Apply numerical modelling or statistical methods to analyse aquaculture data, quantify uncertainty, identify risk patterns, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Engage with internal DNV experts, industry stakeholders, authorities, technology providers, and research partners to identify needs, test ideas, and build relevant knowledge.
  • Develop and contribute to research proposals, externally funded projects, white papers, reports, scientific publications, and presentations.
