About the role

Would you like to shape how renewable energy is certified worldwide? Are you motivated by developing new ideas, driving digital transformation, and working at the interface between engineering, innovation, and industry collaboration? We are looking for an engaged and forward‑thinking Innovation Manager to strengthen our Renewables Certification (RC) team.

Renewables Certification (RC) is part of the Energy Systems (ES) business area, which employs more than 6000 people globally. Renewables Certification (RC) holds global responsibility for Type Certification (TC), Component Certification (CC) and Project Certification (PC) for Renewables within ES.

Currently RC consists of more than 300+ experts across global locations, including Beijing, Boston, Busan, Copenhagen, Dresden, Esbjerg, Gdynia, Hamburg, Houston, Høvik, London, Shanghai, Taipei and Yokohama.

RC is the global market leader in Renewables Certification and is involved in 80% of all Project Certification for offshore wind farms worldwide, including offshore substations.

Role Summary

The Innovation Manager will play a key role in developing new service concepts and leading standardization efforts, while actively incorporating innovation initiatives from DNV to meet the specific needs of Renewables Certification (RC) customers. This position is instrumental in advancing our services including service specification, standards, and recommended practices through close collaboration with industry. It is expected to combine innovation leadership with hands-on engineering support in certification projects

The Innovation Manager will help ensure RC remains at the forefront of renewables, setting industry benchmarks and maintaining a competitive edge for certification. This approach supports our broader strategy and strengthens our position as a leader in shaping the future of renewable energy assurance.

Key Outcomes 12 to 24 Months

  • Lead and manage projects focused on service concepts and innovative workflows, ensuring delivery of high-quality outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of standardisation processes
  • Work closely with the Digitalisation Manager and Product Leads to ensure coordinated innovation initiatives.
  • Engage with internal experts, customers, and stakeholders to identify trends, drive co-creation, and promote continuous improvement, positioning RC as a leader in future-ready certification services.
  • Generate and validate innovative ideas with Key Account Managers (KAMs), customers, Service Line Leaders, and industry stakeholders, helping RC stay competitive, digitally enabled, and customer-focused, in line with DNV’s Strategy 2030 and Energy Systems strategy.
  • Foster knowledge sharing, new ways of working, and a culture of continuous improvement across RC`s global organisation
  • Guiding progress, tracking achievements, and communicating both results and their positive impacts for RC's innovation initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support on selected projects (e.g. certification activities, technical assessments, design/document reviews, calculations/verification tasks, and contribution to certification deliverables or Joint Industry Projects), based on competence and capacity.
  • Balance innovation initiatives with project delivery needs, ensuring clear prioritisation, transparent planning, and timely execution of agreed hands-on contributions.

  • Interfaces with central Energy Systems Innovation to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

About you

  • A master’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, energy systems, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent experience combining hands‑on engineering or certification expertise with innovation, service development, and work in complex, regulated environments is highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies and assurance principles, and offshore wind market developments.
  • Certification/assurance project delivery and/or hands-on engineering experience (e.g., Type, Component, and/or Project Certification) is an advantage.
  • Experience in innovation, service development, strategic growth, or technology-enabled transformation.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and translate insights into robust, customer‑focused service concepts.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust quickly.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and drive progress in a dynamic and international environment.
  • Structured, analytical problem-solver who balances detail with a strategic perspective.
  • Highly customer‑oriented, service‑minded, and focused on high‑quality, efficient delivery.
