About the role

The department of Technology and Testing is recognized for three world leading Technology Centres located in Oslo, Bergen, and in Groningen in the Netherlands. By combining deep industrial expertise with test capabilities our Technology Centres offer research, technology development and qualification, advisory and testing & pilots services. We provide experts and test capabilities to support customers across the energy sectors, including Oil & Gas, offshore wind, hydrogen, and carbon capture. The department is running more than 15 joint industry projects, and we are responsible for 25 industry standards.

Technology Centre Bergen is offering leading expertise and testing capabilities within offshore mooring systems, materials and corrosion technology, coating systems, failure analysis and technology qualification. The market segments include O&G, offshore wind, hydrogen and renewable fuels, carbon capture and storage, fish farming and general industry. The Technology Centre is part of DNV office Bergen, located in in a vibrant technology environment in the city centre, close to the University of Bergen.

We are seeking a Head of Section (HoS) to lead Technology Centre Bergen. The HoS reports to Head of Department and is part of the department management team.

The HoS is responsible for leading the team, and laboratories, organize and sponsor projects, drive technology development, sales, and service developments. Cooperation across the department and other DNV units is important to secure optimal utilization of DNV’s total capability. The HoS takes active part in the department’s operations to develop business opportunities and to deliver performance.

Primary tasks of HoS role:

Lead a team of 30 experts and laboratories facilities. The HoS is responsible for the unit’s financial performance, utilisation of personnel, order intake and delivery of projects. This includes:

  • Together with team leads, develop and lead people towards their ambitions and capabilities.
  • Drive service development and establish market positions, in cooperation with HoD, other HoS, sales organization and key experts
  • Drive profiling, marketing, and sales processes
  • Sponsor projects, both in own unit and across the organization
  • Identify and develop new markets, customers, and services
