Overview

About us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About the role

Are you excited by the idea of using data science to tackle real-world challenges and drive meaningful impact?

We are looking for a Senior Data Science Innovator to join our Strategy, Innovation & Partnerships (SIP) team, where data science meets customer-led innovation and propels energy transition impact.

In this role you won’t just build models, you’ll help discover the right problems to solve, working directly with customers to uncover pain points and turn ideas into scalable digital solutions. From early-stage experimentation to production-ready products, you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of data-driven offerings for critical energy infrastructure.

You will work within one of our innovation labs, collaborating in multidisciplinary teams to tackle challenges that are technically demanding, strategically relevant, and highly impactful. You‘ll be part of a team that develops and test pilots with customers, and mature solutions into MVPs for handover and scaling by product teams. In SIP, we focus on delivering innovation that reaches customers; you will shape this journey from the outset and see your work evolve from an idea into scalable solutions that can impact multi‑gigawatt renewable systems alongside other industries and make the energy transition safer for people and the environment.

What you will do

  • Uncover customers’ pain-points and desired gains
Discover and define the problem worth solving by interviewing customers, and mapping inefficiencies in internal processes
  • Develop and deliver analytical solutions
Design, build, and refine models and algorithms supporting experiments, prototypes, and minimum viable products, using statistical and machine learning approaches
  • Translate ideas into structured solutions
Turn business or innovation ideas into testable experiments to validate against the data or with the stakeholders
  • Own end-to-end delivery
Lead analytical workstreams from problem framing to prototype development, validation, and handover to production or scaling teams
  • Collaborate and influence stakeholders
Work closely with experiment managers, engineers, domain experts, and product teams to build alignment, communicate insights, and ensure adoption of solutions
  • Provide technical leadership
Mentor other team members, share best practices, and contribute to internal data science communities

If you are motivated by innovation, experimentation, and making a tangible difference in the energy transition, this is your opportunity to be part of a team turning data into impactful solutions that matter. Join a team working at the intersection of data science, innovation, and strategy, tackling complex and impactful challenges in the energy transition.

  • Familiarity with APIs, pipelines, kubernetes and linux environments.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git and containerisation tools such as Docker

Ways of working

  • High level of ownership and autonomy, combined with a collaborative and team-oriented approach
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to structure complex challenges independently
  • Innovator’s mindset, centred around problem discovery, experimentation, and pivoting; you see change as an opportunity rather than a problem
  • You are comfortable working in a safe environment where ideas are challenged respectfully, and the best outcomes are prioritized over individual ownership
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and innovation-driven environments

Nice to have

  • Ability to identify and validate customer problems through interviews, research, and synthesis of insights.
  • Exposure to energy systems or other complex industrial domains
  • Experience with data visualization and building web apps with React, Dash, Streamlit or any other frameworks
