About the role

Do you have an interest in understanding the intricacies of the North American power grid and what it will take to achieve a 100% renewable energy system? Are you excited to perform technical analyses on solar and/or energy storage projects and products? Are you really excited about how grid-scale batteries will support renewable energy integration into existing grid infrastructure? If any of these sounds appealing, this internship may be for you!

DNV - Energy Systems is seeking a Solar / Energy Storage Intern to join its Solar Finance and Technology Department or Energy and Emerging Technology Department. These teams specialize in supporting analysis and engineering related to solar and energy storage projects and products.

The Solar / Energy Storage Intern role will be a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either the Toronto (ON) or Montreal (QB) Canada offices. Further details regarding role-specific requirements and location will be covered during the interview process.

Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

What You'll Do

  • Working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary, collaborative team spanning the US and Canada
  • Supporting solar or energy storage project developers and battery manufacturers by reviewing their products and projects
  • Organizing customer provided data sets to support reporting and analysis
  • Sifting through confidential technical specifications and contracts to extract meaningful insights for internal and external analysis and presentations
  • Reviewing financial models of solar and energy storage projects to understand how they are financed
  • Evaluating solar and energy storage product specifications and performance data for alignment with contractual requirements and industry expectations
  • Assessing new solar and energy storage technologies for market viability
  • Supporting production work, including, but not limited to writing reports, remote troubleshooting, and critical review
  • Developing tools and processes to continuously improve quality and value of delivery
  • Overall, we foster a learning-by-doing atmosphere and will develop a program tailored to your career ambitions! This is a paid internship, compensation may be discussed during the interview process

DNV - Energy Systems recherche un stagiaire en solaire / stockage d'énergie pour rejoindre son département Finance et technologie solaire ou le département Énergie et technologies émergentes. Ces équipes sont spécialisées dans le soutien à l'analyse et à l'ingénierie liées aux projets et produits solaires et de stockage d'énergie.  

Le poste de stagiaire en solaire / stockage d'énergie sera un horaire hybride dynamique où les employés passeront généralement trois (3) jours par semaine à travailler soit depuis les bureaux de Toronto (ON) soit de Montréal (QB) Canada. · Travailler dans une équipe diversifiée, multidisciplinaire et collaborative couvrant les États-Unis et le Canada

· Soutenir les développeurs de projets solaires ou de stockage d'énergie et les fabricants de batteries en examinant leurs produits et projets

· Organisation des ensembles de données fournis par les clients pour soutenir les rapports et l'analyse

· Passer en revue des spécifications techniques confidentielles et des contrats afin d'extraire des informations pertinentes pour des analyses et présentations internes et externes

· Examiner les modèles financiers des projets solaires et de stockage d'énergie afin de comprendre comment ils sont financés

· Évaluation des spécifications et données de performance des produits solaires et de stockage d'énergie afin de les aligner sur les exigences contractuelles et les attentes du secteur

· Évaluation des nouvelles technologies solaires et de stockage d'énergie pour la viabilité du marché

· Soutien au travail de production, incluant, mais sans s'y limiter, la rédaction de rapports, le dépannage à distance et la revue critique

· Développer des outils et des processus pour améliorer continuellement la qualité et la valeur de la livraison

About you

What is Required

  • Currently pursuing and/or recently completed Bachelor's, Master’s, or Doctoral degree program with an emphasis in a technical field such as Electrical, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics, or other related degree is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills (The employee would be required to serve customers by email and by phone, both in Quebec, in the rest of Canada, and in the United States.)
