We are seeking a Junior Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to support CFD‑based analyses and advisory services for projects across the energy transition.
In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of senior and lead CFD engineers, contributing to simulation, analysis, and reporting activities. You will support projects related to process safety, hydrogen, renewables, offshore and onshore energy infrastructure, and gain hands‑on experience applying CFD to real‑world engineering and safety challenges.
This is an opportunity for an early‑career engineer to build strong foundations in CFD modeling, engineering judgment, and consulting‑style project delivery within a globally respected technical organization.
This position is based in Shanghai or Tianjin or Beijing and requires onsite presence.
CFD Analysis & Technical Support
- Support CFD simulations under supervision, including advanced fire and explosion risk, fire dimensioning accidental load, and PFP optimisation analyses, as well as other specialised CFD analyses (e.g. gas and fire detectors mapping, gas and smoke ingress, helideck turbulence, exhaust dispersion, cryogenic risk, wind chill index, and ventilation).
- Prepare CFD modellings by executing geometry transformation, clean‑up, or build‑up workflows; performing mesh generation and quality control; defining boundary and initial conditions; and configuring simulation scenarios in line with DNV technical note guidelines, validated methodologies, and approved CFD software tools.
- Conduct CFD post‑processing, results visualization, and preliminary technical interpretation of simulation outputs, supporting engineering assessment and decision‑making..
- Support CFD model validation, sensitivity studies, and structured quality assurance checks in line with DNV technical procedures, verification requirements, and quality management systems.
Project Delivery Support
- Contribute to multiple CFD projects as part of a project team, delivering tasks according to agreed schedules and quality requirements.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, figures, and presentations for internal review and client delivery.
- Follow DNV quality management systems, technical guidelines, and recommended practices.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across different disciplines and locations.
Learning, Development & Knowledge Building
- Develop technical competence in CFD tools, modeling approaches, and industry applications through on‑the‑job learning and mentoring.
- Participate in internal training, technical forums, and knowledge‑sharing activities.
- Gradually build understanding of energy facility safety, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
Client & Team Interaction
- Support senior engineers in client discussions, workshops, and technical reviews.
- Communicate clearly within the project team and escalate questions or issues as needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a consulting environment.
