We do this by assuring that energy systems work safely and effectively, using solutions that are increasingly digital. We also help industries and governments to navigate the many complex, interrelated transitions taking place globally and regionally, in the energy industry.

About the role

Are you motivated by turning complex data into clear insight and practical business value? The Global Data Intelligence team in DNV Energy Systems is looking for a Data Analyst to join our team in Oslo and help shape how data is used in our regions and functions to support better decisions, stronger performance, and more effective ways of working. We deliver the insights portal for Energy Systems, we participate in improvements projects with Operational Excellence teams, and we engage in AI adoption initiatives.

In this role, you will work with large and complex datasets from multiple sources, transforming data into trusted analytics, dashboards, and visual stories that make insights accessible to stakeholders across the business. You will combine curiosity, analytical rigour, and strong business understanding to identify patterns, explain performance, and support data-driven decision-making.

You will be part of a collaborative analytics environment where data quality, usability, and stakeholder adoption matter as much as technical delivery. The position is well suited for someone with 2–4 years of relevant experience who enjoys working hands-on with business intelligence tools and translating analytical findings into clear recommendations.

What you will do

  • Analyse large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities that support business priorities.
  • Design, build, and maintain effective dashboards and reports using Power BI. (Experience with Tableau, Qlik, or similar business intelligence tools is valuable)
  • Translate business questions into analytical approaches, define relevant measures and KPIs, and present findings in a clear and actionable way.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, product teams, and subject matter experts to understand requirements and improve analytical solutions.
  • Contribute to improving reporting processes, data models, data definitions, and self-service analytics capabilities, tied closely with DNV wide initiatives
  • Engage in the adoption of AI across Energy Systems, including identifying, exploring, and supporting relevant agent and agentic use cases that can improve analytics, decision support, and ways of working.

What we offer

  • A meaningful role where your analytical work will help colleagues and leaders make better, data-informed decisions.
  • The opportunity to work with varied and complex datasets in an international, knowledge-driven environment.
  • A collaborative culture built on knowledge sharing, professional development, and respect for different perspectives.
  • Good opportunities to grow your skills in analytics, business intelligence, stakeholder engagement, and modern data platforms.
  • Flexible working arrangements supporting a healthy work-life balance and Høvik campus facilities
  • Competitive benefits aligned with Norwegian market practices, including pension, insurance, annual vacation, and employee wellbeing initiatives.

About you

  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and turning them into structured analysis, reports, or dashboards.
  • Strong ability to understand business needs and translate them into data requirements, analytical questions, and practical outputs.
  • Experience presenting insights to non-technical stakeholders through clear visualisations, storytelling, and concise recommendations.

Technical skills

  • Strong hands-on skills in at least one leading BI and visualisation tool, preferably Power BI.
  • Good understanding of data modelling, dashboard design, report performance, and user-friendly visual analytics.
  • Experience with data quality checks, data reconciliation, and documenting definitions, assumptions, and calculations.
  • Experience with Excel for analysis and ad hoc business support; experience with Python, R, Power Query, DAX, or similar tools/languages is an advantage.
  • Experience extracting, transforming, and analysing data from relational databases, data warehouses, or lakehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms, APIs, or modern analytics environments is beneficial, but not required.

  • You are curious, structured, and comfortable exploring data to understand what is really happening behind the numbers.
  • You take ownership of tasks from problem framing to analysis, visualisation, communication, and follow-up.
  • You have strong attention to detail and care about data quality, consistency, and trust.
  • You collaborate well with both technical and business colleagues and enjoy making data useful for others.
  • You communicate clearly, ask good questions, and are able to explain analytical findings in a simple and relevant way.
