Overview

About us

We are the independent expert in assurance and risk management. Driven by our purpose, to safeguard life, property, and the environment, we empower our customers and their stakeholders with facts and reliable insights so that critical decisions can be made with confidence.

As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, we use our knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.

About the role

In the Solar & Storage team of our Project Engineering & Due Diligence section, you will get to be involved in the design, review, feasibility and assessment of renewable energy projects. This role will see you working alongside other solar and storage engineering specialists, and other teams within the Energy Systems landscape, such as the Wind, Civil, and Energy Storage Teams, to provide technical consulting services throughout the development, financing, procurement and construction phases of large-scale solar farms, standalone storage plant and hybrid renewable energy projects.

We help our customers achieve their project goals, by using our technical skills to conduct high-quality analyses, evaluate risks, and provide robust answers to difficult questions. We're predominantly engineers with a knack for skilfully using and building tools and models to get the answers we need.

We're busy, and so we're looking for someone to join us in an engineering role.

If your answer to most of these questions is “yes”, then we'd love to chat!

  • Are you passionate about renewable energy and playing a role in the energy transition?
  • Do you understand how solar and storage projects work, and are able to apply that understanding to evaluating project feasibility or risks?
  • Are you great at building insight and understanding from careful analysis of detailed project information?
  • Do you have a knack for using engineering models or tools to understand the behaviour or characteristics of complex systems?
  • Are you logical, creative, and organised, and able to manage projects efficiently and effectively?
  • Do you have the technical competence and judgement to interpret and review complex technical analyses to ensure technical accuracy and quality?
  • Do you enjoy engaging with customers to understand their problems, and propose and demonstrate the value of technical solutions?
  • Can you mentor and build strong relationships with colleagues by exhibiting a genuine working style?
  • Are you always looking for new and better ways of tackling technical challenges?
  • Do you enjoy being able to clearly and concisely communicate the outcomes from your work to those who need it most?
  • Are you ready to be part of an experienced, caring, friendly team who want to work cooperatively with you to realise great outcomes?

Responsibilities of the Role:

Here are some of the other things we do, and it would be great if you already have experience with some of these tasks:

  • Technical due diligence of pre-construction through to operational solar and storage projects
  • Providing assurance on project viability through pre-feasibility and red-flag assessments
  • Developing technical specifications & providing assistance to clients for all aspects of solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction
  • Developing, reviewing and executing Owners, Lenders and Independent Engineer scopes of work
  • Getting out on site and undertaking inspection services for solar & storage projects
  • Conducting greenfield site visits to appraise the characteristics of potential development sites
  • Design support and feasibility studies for solar and storage projects
  • Completion of performance reviews and evaluation of solar farm installations
  • Designing efficient solar farms and BESS considering complex site constraints
  • Assisting clients with procurement, including contract negotiation and tendering.

As well as the technical elements of our work, we are continually engaging with various customers and stakeholders, including developers, investors, financiers, planning authorities and others. Some of the other important non-technical parts of our work include:

  • engaging with a wide range of clients, including developers and financial institutions, to establish how our capabilities can help answer their questions
  • Developing compelling proposals that explain how our services can meet customer needs
  • Working on multiple projects, managing own time to meet project targets
  • Executing projects successfully through careful project management
  • Producing comprehensive high-quality written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client
  • Explaining and discussing important results and outcomes from our work with customers or other stakeholders.
  • Conducting careful quality assurance checking of deliverables
  • Performing mentoring of junior or less experienced colleagues
  • Supporting the continuous improvement and development of group procedures
  • Delivering insightful presentations to customers or other industry stakeholders

Finally, and on a more personal note:

  • We are a welcoming and supportive team who value the benefits and strength that come from diversity.
  • We have strong local and global heritage and we regularly work with knowledgeable and experienced colleagues from around the world.
  • We offer competitive renumeration and leave allowances, including paid and unpaid parental leave, and flexible working arrangements.
  • We’re focussed on staying at the forefront of the industry though regular investment in research and innovation, and are supportive of employee development.
  • We’ve worked hard to stay close and support each other in recent year, when we have all increasingly had to work from home, and look forward to extending the same support to you throughout whatever challenges the coming years present.

If this appeals to you, we’d love to talk about whether you could find a place in our Solar & Storage team.
