About the role

Do you want to join a global, growth-oriented company working closely with customers to tackle the biggest global transformation in a generation: the energy transition?

DNV is now looking for a principal engineer with expertise within corrosion and materials technology to join our corrosion and materials advisory team at the Technology Centre at Høvik and/or Bergen.

The DNV Technology Centres at Oslo and Bergen consist of +80 highly skilled employees working within materials and manufacturing technologies, corrosion technology, laboratory testing, fracture mechanics, composites, and failure investigations. The Technology Centres are an important part of the DNV business, where leading experts provide advisory and verification services combined with testing expertise, supporting the industry in solving technical challenges and qualifying new solutions needed for the energy transition. The Technology Centres work closely with all parts of DNV and play an important role in developing recommended practices and standards.

Working as an integrated part of the Technology Centres, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support the energy industry both within the traditional Oil & Gas industry and the emerging new technologies such as CCS, offshore wind, hydrogen, and batteries. You will also be involved in supporting other industries and business areas.
  • Contribute in further develop our state-of-the-art laboratories at Høvik and Bergen, but also collaborate with other DNV test locations as Singapore and Columbus (US).
  • Help qualifying new technologies needed for the energy transition.
  • Work with a global customer base from leading companies in their industries.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of experts widely recognized in DNV and in the industry.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Have a key role in the development of DNV recommended practices and standards within materials and corrosion technology.
  • Take the role as bid manager and project manager in exciting projects.
  • Develop good customer relations, gain better understanding of client needs and challenges, and use this to develop ways of solving problems and implementing solutions.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with MSc or PhD within relevant discipline (chemistry / corrosion / materials technology), combined minimum 5 to 10 years of operational experience from offshore/onshore industry, and/or research/laboratory industry.

You should in addition have:

  • Knowledge in industrial standards and framework within corrosion/materials technology.
  • Knowledge and experience within materials selection, corrosion protection and qualification/corrosion testing for environments such as seawater, transport of CO2 and hydrogen, and oil & gas production systems.
  • Insight into one or more of industries such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen transport, offshore wind, oil & gas and maritime, including business drivers and technical challenges.
  • Interest and curiosity in new technologies.
  • High focus on safety and quality, with a high degree of integrity in what they do and deliver.
  • Strong team player attitude with a desire to sharing knowledge.
  • Customer oriented mindset with excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Digital skills, and interest in applying these skills to enhance value and efficiency of services is a strong advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Norwegian written and spoken or a clear ambition to attain working capabilities in Norwegian language.
  • For the Bergen location, we are specifically seeking candidates with expertise in CO2 and CCS competencies.

Work location: Høvik (outside Oslo) or Bergen.
