About the role

DNV is looking to hire a Senior Power System Engineer to join our team in Australia.

About Power Systems Planning at DNV:

DNV provides state-of-the-art power system modelling in generation and transmission/ distribution systems for network operators, regulators, developers, asset managers, EPC’s and OEM’s. Our clients enjoy the benefits of DNV's global knowledge and deep technical expertise.

Our team has a global footprint, and our Australian team are experts in delivering the complex studies required for new connections under chapter 5 of the NER. Coupled with DNV’s ability to share insights and access to specialist internal experts across a range of power grid disciplines, DNV is a trusted partner to many of APAC’s leading developers and network businesses.

DNV is one of the largest consultancies specialising in power systems globally- with over 100 power system experts serving local and overseas markets. We can draw on in-house experts in almost any domain of power system knowledge and are recognised as global leaders in a range of topics, for instance HV-DC interconnector studies and technologies.

Critical Attributes

  • Demonstrated success in large scale renewable connections, registration and commissioning according to the Australian National Electricity Rules.
  • Positive problem-solving mentality and great communication skills.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis tools - PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory and Python.
  • Key responsibilities and experience relevant for the role.
  • Bachelor of electrical engineering / power systems (Masters viewed favourably).
  • 7+ years of industry experience, with Australian work experience viewed favourably.
  • Fundamental knowledge of power electronics control systems and experience working within an OEM is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently to solve complex tasks.
  • Good communication skills and experience in building relationships with clients.
  • Proficient in writing technical reports and presenting to the client.
  • Familiarity with applicable standards, i.e. IEC, IEEE.
  • Great interpersonal skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary environment.
