About the role

Consultant Asset Management Power Grids

As a Consultant, you will be part of the consulting team executing a variety of asset management projects in the Energy sector. Are you an electrical or power system engineer looking for a new challenge? Do you want to be part of DNV’s to resolve customer asset-related issues and improve their asset management performance?

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you. In this role, you will serve as part of the team trusted advisor to our customers, providing solutions to optimise their asset performance in alignment with their business objectives. You will be part of a professional team, each member having specific responsibilities related to the acquisition, management, and execution of projects, with active and committed participation. You will work on advisory projects where you'll analyze and advise customers on the best ways to manage their assets. When customers encounter issues, you will support them in finding resolutions. When it comes to the failure of the assets you will apply tour expertise in determining the most probable root cause of the failure).

You will be required to perform asset condition assessment , conduct online field-based condition assessment of assets such as Transformers, Cables, Switchgears, etc. Having proficiency in using online condition monitoring tools such as Partial Discharge testing, Infrared scanning, etc. is part of the job. You will be required to perform analysis of the test results, and develop reports. So analytical skills report along with writing skills will be key to your job function.

Delivering high-quality content and acting with professional integrity are essential characteristics of an Asset Management Consultant within our team. As a asset management consultant, you should have knowledge of Electricity Generation, Transmission and Distribution (T&D)T&D network operation and maintenance, as well as an understanding of protection systems. Additionally, you should be familiar with business processes related to asset management, particularly within electrical utilities. A strong interest in digitalization and the Energy Transition, which is reforming the entire sector, is also important.

  • Work on advisory projects to provide clients with solutions for capital electrical asset management, maintenance, and inspection planning.
  • Participate in projects and conduct expert inspections and condition assessments using DNV's approach to online condition assessment and relevant tools.
  • Engage in power failure investigations at both asset and network levels.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive project reports.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate closely with other units within DNV , as our clients are located all around the world.

Candidate shall clearly state his/her willingness to be posted in an any of the GCC country though the position is opened in United Arab Emirates.

About you

  • A relevant technical qualification includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field, PhD will be preferred.
  • An experience of 7-8 years in asset management, including maintenance and condition assessment of assets for Bachelor degree holder while for this is reduced to 5- 6 years with Masters degree .  
  • A strong understanding of asset management principles, processes, and systems, particularly based on a life cycle approach, would be advantageous. 
  • Candidates should be interested in developing their expertise in asset integrity solutions and related areas. 
  • Hands-on experience with electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) relay protection systems is essential. This includes performing protection coordination studies for T&D networks, applying protection settings, and testing protection relays. Experience in determining settings for transformers, buses, distribution feeders, capacitor banks, reactor banks, and transmission lines is necessary. 
  • A broad understanding of system reliability, asset management, and smart grid technology, along with a diverse background in electric power systems, is desirable. Familiarity with power systems concepts such as power flow, short circuits, system stability, and reliability will be beneficial. Experience conducting power system studies using any relevant software packages will add value. 
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams is important. 
  • Candidates must be willing to participate in business development activities and demonstrate strong client interaction skills. 
  • A willingness to travel over 75% of the time is also required. 
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in preparing and presenting company capabilities, project status reports, project proposals, and in representing the company as the primary engineering service provider to clients. 
  • Experience and skills in performing key asset designs such as Transformers/Switchgears/ Overhead Transmission Lines? Cables/Generators using hand calculations and/or software tools will be of added advantage. Candidate shall mention the experience in his application.
