Our Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior or Principal Consultant to join our Power Grids Advisory team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to play a leading role in one of the UK's most significant electricity network digitalisation programme's while helping shape the future of the GB electricity system.

Our Power Grids team works with electricity network owners, system operators, regulators, governments and leading energy sector organisations to help tackle some of the industry's most important challenges facing the industry today. Our work spans network digitalisation, electricity markets, flexibility, network planning, policy and regulation, innovation and energy transition strategy.

In this role, you will combine technical leadership, strategic advisory and business development. Alongside supporting the mobilisation and delivery of a major electricity network digitalisation programme, you will help grow DNV's presence across the GB electricity transmission and distribution sector, leveraging your industry expertise and relationships to create new opportunities and deliver lasting value for clients.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership and senior oversight on complex consulting projects, with a particular focus on the successful delivery of a major electricity network digitalisation programme
  • Drive business development by leveraging senior client relationships to identify, shape and convert opportunities across the GB electricity networks sector
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, providing strategic technical, commercial and regulatory advice to clients while ensuring high-quality project delivery
  • Mentor and develop team members, helping to strengthen and grow technical capability within the Power Grids team
  • Represent DNV externally through senior client engagement, industry forums, conferences and thought leadership activities

About you

The following competence and experience are considered very important for you to bring:

  • Established profile within the GB electricity networks sector, with significant experience in a transmission owner, distribution network operator, NESO or consultancy. Experience within the Scottish electricity sector would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of electricity transmission networks, with distribution knowledge beneficial
  • Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas: electricity network planning, network digitalisation, electricity markets, energy policy and regulation, or related strategic advisory services
  • Familiarity with the GB electricity innovation landscape, including NIA and SIF projects. Experience developing business cases for innovative products, services or network solutions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage across technical, commercial and regulatory topics
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for business development and growth

In addition, knowledge of the following topics is considered very desirable:

  • Experience supporting electricity network digitalisation programme's
  • Hands-on experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting field devices such as LV monitors, communications routers and power quality monitors
  • Familiarity with utility communication protocols including IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3 and SNMP
  • Understanding of how SCADA, OT and field devices are deployed across electricity distribution networks, field operations and control room environments
