About the role

This opportunity is within the Energy Systems service area, with over 6,000 consultants and engineers working across the globe. DNV’s Energy Transition Advisory team consultancy services to a broad set of clients in support of their energy transition ambition. The team consists of a diverse pool of consultants, who work with deep technical experts from across the globe to deliver holistic advice – combining a technical basis with e.g. strategic, financial, regulatory and environmental insights to support effective decision making.

As a Senior Consultant in our Energy Transition Advisory business your primary responsibility will be focused on delivery of a diverse set of projects, leading or supporting client engagement and proposal development on an as-needed basis and support the development of more junior colleagues.

Key activities will include:

  • Provide consultancy services for customers in Asia Pacific including project developers (for e.g. renewables, BESS, hydrogen and low carbon fuels), investors, utilities, governments and multilateral development agencies.
  • Act as Project Manager for selected small and medium assignments, including multidisciplinary and cross-business area projects.
  • Support knowledge sharing and build internal networks to increase collaboration
  • Execute project work with a focus on analysis and modelling. The main topics for project delivery can include:
    • Technical & economic feasibility studies
    • Financial model development and/or review
    • Technology sizing & optimization
    • Demand & supply forecasting
    • Climate risk assessment
    • Technical and/or commercial due diligence
    • Roadmap development
  • Prepare reports and presentations and participate in customer meetings.
  • Working with cross-disciplinary and cross-regional teams to deliver projects and proposals

About you

Primary Position Qualifications

  • University degree in a technical or related discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Energy Economics, Sustainability or similar
  • >5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in or related to markets in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Understanding of challenges, opportunities and trends in energy markets in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Experience with techno-economic feasibility studies and financial model review
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong command of the English language and technical writing
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel abroad (up to 10% of time)

Additional Beneficial Position Qualifications :

  • Experience with
    • Clean energy technologies, e.g. renewables, BESS, bio-energy and low carbon fuels
    • Engineering design across project lifecycles
    • CAPEX/OPEX estimation and business case assessments
    • Optimization modelling (e.g. Python based)
    • Technical or commercial due diligence
  • Working experience in consultancy or EPC
  • Proficiency in a regionally relevant language, including Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, Korean or Japanese

Key competencies, skills and personal attributes :

  • Strong skills and capabilities to develop yourself as a consultant.
  • Ability to work individually as well as in a team.
  • Understanding of the technical consequences of a business decision as well as the business consequences of a technical decision.
  • Ability to handle complex (technical) problems and be able to deal with multiple parties with conflicting interests.
