Mhairi - Project Scientist
Mhairi, a Project Scientist at DNV, shares that her day-to-day tasks vary depending on the project. Her role involves writing test procedures, ensuring health and safety compliance, and setting up and performing tests. She’s inspired by the opportunities to innovate and make an impact.
Meet Mhairi
I am Mhairi, I'm a project scientist and I've been at DNV for two years. Every day is kind of different. Um, it kind of depends on what project we're on, but usually my day involves either writing test procedures, kind of looking into the health and safety aspects of whatever testing we're doing and then also like setting up and performing the tests. I particularly like the blast projects just 'cause um, they're really interesting though. They are over in seconds. So I was really good at math and physics when I was younger and I was always really interested in like the practical aspects of it. Um, so obviously coming here and being able to see everything applied in real life and like real life systems is been really interesting. I really like working at DNV and I particularly like the graduate program 'cause I felt like it was a really good introduction to DNV as a whole. Hopefully I'll become a senior scientist, but in a few years, um, I'm looking forward to having more time to like kind of go on bigger projects. So I've been on some really big projects involving carbon capture and CO2 transportation in, um, vessels. So the values of DNV, the carry dairy share, I kind of see it in the whole ethos whenever I come to work. It's kind of in the own culture of the people who work here. There's like a sense of caring between everyone. Um, everyone is very supportive of one another and there's been times when obviously the stress is on your testing. Everyone's just pulled together and supported one another to like get the project finished. I'm at the heart of it because I think that my work directly contributes to improving the safety standards in critical systems. A lot of what we do here is doing cool stuff that people can't do anywhere else. Like the level of complexity we can do here is kind of unparalleled.
