Jez - Head of Section Construction and Fabrication

My name is Jez Lawton. I'm the head of section for Construction and Fabrication, and I've worked at DNV for three years. The section I manage is responsible for basically all of the construction and fabrication for all the test rigs that we have here on site. So whether that's, uh, preparing the ground, whether that's fabricating different parts of a, of a test structure, uh, my team's responsible for that. If I have to nail it down to what I'm most proud of, it's, I'm proud of the people that I lead. They're an incredibly dedicated bunch. They are so supportive of each other in terms of delivering the work that we do. If we take the site that we work at here at Spade Adam, it's lots of, I suppose, disparate groups all doing slightly different things, but they're all joined by one common, uh, purpose. And it's to deliver for our customers to deliver the projects that we are here to do. You're encouraged to put forward new ideas, whether that's from one of our construction workers, putting forward a different idea of having to build something to scientists, putting forward new and innovative, uh, ideas. DNV is a unique place to work because of its people. It's a company who puts a lot of value into people, whether that be supporting them during training, whether developing their leadership skills, their professional skills. From the onset of me being here, I was given training. In my first role, I've been given the opportunity to move to a head of section already. Uh, with that has come huge investment in me in terms of the leadership courses that we're encouraged to do. I'm at the heart of it because I work with a team of people who are all dedicated in terms of how they contribute to DNV's purpose. Every project that we do, every piece of work that we do here directly contributes to the, uh, DNV's purpose to protect life, property, and the environment. And that's a really, really inspiring thing to do on a daily basis.
