Meet Emma
Sometimes it's not what your job is, it's who you work with that makes, that, makes it. And I'm very lucky that I've got a good team for that. My name's Emma Thornhill and I work for business support. So a lot of my job entails supporting, um, clients, so making sure that deliverables are issued on time, supporting the engineers with any problems they're having with any of these systems that we use. Support staff are kind of the people that they come to when they've got problems, because nine times out of 10 we've cropped it, come across it before, or we have an idea of who we can contact to help get the problem resolved. I'm really lucky that the team that I work with, we all support each other really well, bouncing ideas off of each other. Something I've been particularly proud of is pushing myself to take on the admin forum, which is a safe space for people to view their opinions, and it's been really successful. We've done a few rounds of it and, um, it's, we've got some really good feedback from that. DNV is a brilliant company for work life balance. Um, I'm a mom of two young kids, so I have to balance my work out with picking up from school and nursery. Um, and anytime there's any problems, they're very flexible in order to allow me to go to these important things. Um, but also I still have the opportunity to learn. Nothing's been taken away from me because I've got kids. I've got the opportunity to still do new things as well. I've got a great team, lead great manager who support me in my role. We encourage you to take on new tasks, so you might not think that there's a lot of things that you can do, but actually within my role, I've learned so much and I've had a lot of development within it. They've pushed me to do things that they know I can, which I might not think that I have the capability to do.
