About the role

You will be working in the independent unit Maritime Advisory. Maritime Advisory offers a comprehensive range of engineering and consulting services beyond classification to maritime customers.

You will be part of the Noise and Vibration team in our section Structural Analyses and Measurements in Hamburg. The section renders a variety of strength, vibration, and noise studies as well as measurement services. The section is a group of 16 experts, being specialists in their specific field of expertise. Your Responsibilities include:

  • Participation in and contribution to vibration and other dynamic related numerical simulation projects for the maritime industry e.g. global and local vibration analyses as well as underwater explosion related studies (“shock”). This includes external customer projects in the design phase but also root cause analysis in case of damages or complaints. Beside you will be involved in internal support and R&D projects.
  • Responsibility for managing and delivering entire projects independently. You will have direct communication with internal and external clients such as shipyards, owners, suppliers and design offices worldwide and support sales activities.

About you

  • Master’s degree in naval architecture, mechnical engineering or comparable engineering disciplines
  • Work experience at shipyard or design office in the field of structural dynamics
  • In depth knowledge and practical experience with the finite element method
  • Good engineering skills/understanding
  • Service-minded attitude focused on delivering high-quality results
  • Good communication skills in English and preferably also in German, both written and verbal
  • Team oriented capabilities, while still being able to work independently
  • Software and tools:
    • ANSYS (or similar finite element software) experience
    • Programming skills (e.g. APDL, python)
    • Poseidon or Genie/SESAM skills are favoured
