About the role

The current role is for a Senior Offshore Engineer primarily supporting verification/advisory and certification services for the offshore infrastructure as technical lead and/or Project Manager. The candidate will have prior experience managing medium- large size projects (involving stakeholder management experience) and have a depth of understanding in at least one offshore asset (structures, risers, pipelines, cables/umbilicals, subsea systems). The successful candidate will work with Principal Engineers and/ or independently manage medium-complex projects within the offshore industry and on areas that facilitate the energy transition (such as offshore or onshore assets, regulatory bodies, Equity firms, as well as corporate clients). The successful candidate will see their experience grow beyond their core specialization.

This role is based at our DNV office in Katy, TX presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from a DNV office.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and balance multiple projects while keeping all items on-schedule and within budget expectations
  • Execute projects together with regional and global resources
  • Proactively contribute to developing and delivering a strong portfolio of projects in new offshore developments and life extension of existing offshore assets (e.g. floating and fixed structures, pipelines, risers, Cables/umbilicals, and subsea systems)
  • Work on onshore and offshore projects that support the energy transition (e.g. CCUS, Hydrogen, Energy transition and innovation activities)
  • Function in a team environment to cooperatively achieve DNV and service goals
  • Build customer relationships and monitor customer satisfaction
  • Continuously strive for new opportunities for improvement or expansion of added value
  • Actively develop new and innovative means to deliver value, scale market share sooner and serve customer needs more completely
  • Write project proposals, work plans, reports, and strategy documents
  • Support sales and business development to deliver value, scale market share and serve customer needs more completely.

About you

What is Required

NOTE: Please submit a 1-page cover letter along with your resume when applying. In your cover letter, please tell us about your core expertise (one of the offshore asset areas) and experience in project management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or related degrees (mechanical, Civil, Ocean, Applied Mechanics, Subsea or similar engineering discipline)
  • Experience 7+ years (7-12 years ideal range)
  • Strong background in at least one type of offshore O&G asset such as Fixed/Floating structures, Riser/Pipelines, Subsea systems. Project experience that showcases involvement in multiple type of assets, with deep expertise in one of the assets preferred (should be able to act as technical lead on a specific asset).
  • Demonstrated experience managing medium to large projects involving multiple stakeholders (few projects that demonstrate the project management)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, support, and respond to stakeholders
  • Solutions-focused, collaborative personality with strong interpersonal skills
  • An organized, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work and make decisions independently
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time as required
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and presentation skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

What is Preferred

  • Strong background in Strength of Materials, Solid mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Theory of Elasticity etc.
  • Strong Experience in FEA (any specialized software tool), offshore asset analysis experience

DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this role is $105,000 - $160,000.
